The preliminary program for the 2012 Personal Information Management conference (San Francisco, CA, February 23-24) is now available.

Mike Ashenfelder
The keynote speaker will be Mike Ashenfelder, from the Library of Congress; his topic is “The Library of Congress: Personal Digital Archive Advice for the General Public”. Here is an extract from his biography:
Mike Ashenfelder joined the Library of Congress in 2002. Initially he worked for the Library’s Music Division, developing online presentations. In 2003 he began working for the Office of Strategic Initiatives, first on the Web Archiving team and then for the Communications team. He writes feature stories for digitalpreservation.gov about digital preservation leaders, institutions and developments of interest. He also produces public information videos and podcasts featuring interviews with digital preservation leaders. “
Bewster Kahle, Founder of the Internet Archive will also make a keynote presentation entitled “A Data Archiving Service”, and Cathy Marshall from Microsoft (last year’s opening keynote speaker) will return to speak on “Ownership, aggregation and re-use of Personal Data”.
